With hands-on exhibition he will be removing devices, explaining each of the components, their function. These items will include the motherboard, cpu and fan, harddrive, memory and video adapter. An explanation will be given of certain integrated peripherals, their replacement should they ever become defective (and whether they can be replaced). There will be a demonstration of basic upgrades that could be done by a novice, including memory upgrades, how to identify memory, the slots they fit in; video card upgrades, the various types of slot available and multiple cards for dual monitor systems. The members will learn of the usual suspects (components) that typically go bad, why they go bad (vs. other components) and how to remove the cover and check the fans. |
